Local Pet Food Scams UPDATED!
When Someone Tells You To Switch Your Pet Food

We hear from many local customers that another pet food store is playing games again! They are putting out bad information regarding food that they carry in their own store, in order to persuade customers to switch to new pet foods. Some store owners do this to get customers to purchase foods that are more profitable for or exclusive to that particular store. This, unfortunately, has nothing to do with the welfare of your pet. We recommend that you remain with high grade, well reviewed and researched pet foods. When you find a pet food that your pet thrives on, then stick with it! You can always change foods if your pet loses interest or you want to vary their diet. Beware of anyone that informs you, every few months that some new food is healthier than what was previously recommended. They will now say that previously recommended foods are unhealthy, full of sugar, recalled, or that the manufacturing pet food company has a bad reputation. They are not being honest with you. We hear from our customers that some local pet stores are trying to scam customers into switching their holistic or organic pet food by telling them that the food they are using contains poor nutrition. They do this to unethically convert a customer to a food that they are pushing in their store.
When someone tells you to switch your holistic pet food, (holistic foods do not contain corn, wheat, soy, or byproducts) that is an indication that they are trying to sell you a food that they got on special or have in surplus. You should compare the nutrition labels yourself or get a second opinion. Ideally, you should learn how to read pet food nutrition labels to protect yourself and your pet and you should do your own research, but if you are not sure, the pet foods below are highly rated for nutrition on sites like dogfoodanalysis.com and the Whold Dog Journal.
